I'll keep your interests first: Letter
I am writing this letter to express my gratitude and to say thank you to the citizens of Bayonne and Jersey City for their overwhelming support for my re-election on Tuesday, June 7. I consider your vote an affirmation of faith in my continuation as your state senator in the 31st Legislative District.
Since going to Trenton in 2007 as your Senate representative, I have worked to advocate for and to address the varied needs of the hardworking families and residents of this district. Going forward, we need to continue the progress made to date in the 31st District, while rebounding from the effects of a countrywide recession. Fewer resources are available for the kind of service so desperately needed by my constituents in both Bayonne and Jersey City. However, we will continue to fight hard to make sure our district and the cities that comprise it will get their fair share.
I learned many valuable lessons from my late husband, former mayor and predecessor as state senator, Glenn D. Cunningham. One of the most valuable lessons he taught me was that as a public servant you work for the people and not the other way around.
I am truly humbled by your vote of confidence, and pledge to each and every one of you that I will continue to represent the district in the Cunningham tradition, with integrity and compassion.
