INSLEE -GOVERNOR

SEATTLE — U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee said Monday that he wants to serve as Washington's governor so that he can overhaul the state's economy by harnessing innovation and aspiring to develop new technologies. Inslee said the state hasn't done enough to build research centers that could be a hub for future jobs, and he suggested using state pension dollars to invest in start-up firms. By Mike Baker.

BLAINE — Authorities say a suspect in a 1983 murder in Oklahoma was arrested when he showed up at the U.S. border in northwestern Washington state and tried to enroll in a "trusted traveler" program for frequent border crossers. Suhail Shanti of Burnaby, British Columbia, was wanted on a first-degree murder warrant issued in LeFlore County, Okla. By Gene Johnson.

PERUGIA, Italy — The first man convicted in the murder of Amanda Knox's roommate testified Monday that he believes she and her ex-boyfriend are guilty, an accusation that prompted the American student to say she was "shocked and anguished." TAINTED SPROUTS

WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers not to eat Evergreen Produce brand alfalfa sprouts or spicy sprouts because they may be linked to 20 cases of salmonella poisoning. The Idaho-based company has not recalled the sprouts though they are possibly linked to illnesses in Idaho, Montana, New Jersey, North Dakota and Washington state. By Mary Clare Jalonick.

Lake Geneva Wi Area Weekly Real Estate Sales Update

Fifteen single family sales closed during the period 6/12/2011 to6/19/2011 (recorded in Metro MLS) in the greater Lake Geneva Wi area (Walworth County), with the vast majority of properties selling below $200,000.  Only two of the sales were short sales and none were foreclosures; most of the properties had been agressively priced to sell and several sold at asking price – proof that if a seller prices their property agressively and correctly buyers ARE willing to pay full list price.

One property that closed at asking was a beautifully restored vintage lakefront cottage listed at $1,495,000.  The price and condition of this lovely offering in the Buena Vista Club in Fontana WI generated a good deal of excitement and I was one of more than 10 realtors who rushed buyers in to see this outstanding offering.  With panoramic views down the length of Geneva Lake from Fontana to Lake Geneva Wi , interior finishes that drove the “charm-o-meter” off the scale, and a price that was unbeatable, the sellers had a constant stream of buyers the first three days it was on the market and had an accepted offer in less than 7 days.  Incredible,  you say?  Not really.  Time after time people looking to buy a lakefront home on Geneva Lake prove that a strategically priced property will sell – fast!

Whether I’m working with first-time home buyers looking to buy that adorable “doll house” in Lake Geneva, or seasoned real estate veterans moving up from a lake access condo in Delavan to a lakefront home on Delavan Lake, the questions and goals are similar:  every buyer, regardless of price point, wants to be certain they are buying value.
