Has anyone been diagnosed with Lupus or misdiagnosed?
Has anyone been diagnosed with Lupus or misdiagnosed? Ok, so here's my problem. Last April I had kidney failure and the doctors could not find the problem that was causing it. They finally came to the conclusion that I had Lupus. First, he was going to do a kidney biopsy to test for it, but said it was not necessary because he was 99.9% sure. Now, I've been researching this disease and from what I've read, Lupus is hard to diagnose. I've finally decided to get a second opinion, because frankly I'm tired of taking all of these pills everyday, and if I don't need them, why take them. I do not have any of the symptoms of Lupus, and the ones that I did have (swelling, fatigue, protein and blood in urine) can also be associated with kidney failure. Anyone have any experience in this??? I am going on the 22nd for more test from another doctor, but was just curious as to what I can expect, because I ask questions at my doctor and they brush them off because he is so called 99.9% sure (well I'm not buying it anymore). Any input will help. Thanks I was first diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Then degenerative arthritis. Finally, after a steady decline in my health and many tests, it was finally determined that I had Lupus. I, too, hate all the medications. Especially prednisone ( anti-inflammatory ). But, I love life and intend on staying around for quite a while. I am now 52 and have had symptoms of Lupus since the age of 13 when I suddenly developed allergic reactions to the sun and Penicillin. Now, I have a long list of drugs I cannot take due to allergic reactions. My body will only tolerate so much before it reacts against it, so it has really been hard. I now see a pain specialist, too, and he has helped tremendously. The pain just made evey day a misery to me. I also take Cymbalta, an anti-depressant. I had gotten to the point where I just wanted someone to shoot me. My rheumatologist can not understand why none of the other doctors recognized the symptoms and suspects that going untreated is what caused the spinal stenosis and degenerative arthritis.
