Bobby Birdman - ‘Don’t Walk Away’ (K Records)
I know nothing about trends in hip hop but don’t think for a minute that’s going to stop me pointing at ‘Flying Overseas’ and mumbling something about how this trend for spartan beats and neat-as-a-pin production makes me want to rugby tackle Theophilus London and say ‘bloody, ruddy well done, you’ and then try to get him to shake my hand even though that is not how he do and if I stood next to him a million of his cool points would immediately disappear. I would also like to point out that Mr. London refers in his song to Riesling and if that is indeed the new drink of rapping men then THAT IS THE KIND OF HIP-HOP PROGRESS OR HIP-HOPROGESS
If you ask me ‘Dancing With A Hole In Your Heart’ is kind of like Not Waving, But Drowning sept for indie kids. Also if you ask me Art Museums are under the impression indie songs must be about valiantly battling on with your job at the call centre even though you had a really hard time last year because he was not just your boyfriend but also your line manager and there is only so much heartache you can take, you know? It is a single of incredible tinny purpose and I am doing the sort of twitchy dancing to it where you try to rein in almost all of your limbs - but especially your arms - so you look slightly deranged. Because this song is over in a minute and a half I think it is miles cleverer than it probably is - but it was
If you are too tired to have internet arguments about whether it is okay for new music to sound like old music then Young Husband are here to dance around with their hair in the 'curtains' style and make drafts happen with they Joe Bloggs denims. Let them sway and let them stare into the middle distance as if something fuckingwow was happening there and not so much ignore the massive calendar on the wall as rip it apart in a strangely bloodless ceremony of indie rage. B-side ‘Nothing, Nothing’s trippy pop is also very good. ‘Indie rage’. You know, like sexy nuns / happy goths / straight-forward women.
One thing you may not know about me is that I like fun so if fun was walking down the street I would totally follow its big fun backside right down the street until its reached into its pocket and pushed on the button on the bottom right hand corner of the keypad three times. If ‘Don’t Walk Away’ was walking down the street I would go ‘hey’ and then after I had passed it I would get into a minicab and get the man to drive me back to the top of the street so I could get out and pass it and go 'hey' again. I like 'Don't Walk Away' it is 1950s diner rock music on the one hand and it is a jumble sale croon on the other. It also sounds like they are doing this song this s l o w l y because they don’t actually know how to play it yet, and in a funny sort of way that is precisely what I like about it.

So he floats in the ocean "not waving, but drowning". As the bombs drop around him on 'Paper Hats', Hayward asks of the architects of his demise: "The sound of explosions / What does this tune signify? / What is its meaning?
It might help them in a crisis, but parents shouldn't rely on such training, she said. "There's no such thing as drown-proofing," Limbo said. "Honestly, I feel that parent supervision is the No. 1 way to prevent drowning." Marso isn't sure yet whether

But the catcalls only amplified when Ms. Nunziata, sounding as if she where experiencing an existential crisis, began reading the proclamation: “… be it resolved I, Mayor Rob Ford … ” The protesters eventually quieted their voices but not their
Are Your Employees Not Waving But Drowning? | Managing Employee ...
(Stevie Smith)
In the last 15 years of working with people at all levels within organisations and in a whole range of industries I’ve met many people ‘not waving but drowning’
Some of these people are drowning in a sea of confusion. They don’t clearly understand what’s expected of them. They don’t clearly understand how what they do influences the bigger picture – how they contribute to the success of the business. They have no real understanding of how they are doing in their jobs – what they already do well and what they need to do differently.
Some people are drowning in a sea of inertia. They don’t see the value in what they are doing. They don’t gain any sense of achievement from their work. They don’t feel as though they contribute anything of any real significance to the business. So many people not waving but drowning. Not good is it?
Here are some ways to quickly throw a lifeline
1. Confusion about expectations
People want and need to know what’s expected of them. Research tells us again and again that employee’s who have real clarity about expectations perform better and have higher levels of job satisfaction. One way to prevent employees from drowning in a sea of confusion is to use performance objectives to clarify expectations. You could sit and agree performance objectives for the important areas of your employee’s job (you don’t need to cover them all) and simply open a conversation with your employee in which you explore what effective performance looks like from both your and the employee’s perspective. You can then agree and describe that effectiveness as performance objectives (and if you need some help describing your expectations as performance objectives why not take a look at http://www.performance-objectives.com ).If you are a learning and development professional, are there ways in which you could support the managers in your business in this area? For example, do the managers understand the benefits of using performance objectives? Do they know how to use them? Could you provide coaching or training in this area? I don’t know of a manager who is happy with the thought of their own staff ‘not waving but drowning’ but I do know a fair few who are not sure what to do about it

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning
In the Parisian cafe where Jacqui sang last night. We've had a drink...Jacqui has just 'Not Waving but Drowning'. I know, I know..
Nobody heard him, the dead man,
But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.
Mullaney, 2-23, once again shows why we should've kept him. Cross gives it away, Saj is run out and at 111-7 we're not waving but drowning.
